Help Needed!
Hello WHS Drama Parents!
Spring is upon us and as we “Spring Forward” we want to thank you for your ongoing support of the WHS Theatre Company! For the Drama Booster Board, spring signals the start of looking at the 2013-2014 school year. Please spring forward with us to fill those necessary spots vacated by parents of graduating students. It is vital we enlist new volunteers to step into next year’s leadership and support positions. Our first priority is nominating next year’s Booster Executive Board (more information below). Volunteering enhances your kid’s experience and makes it more meaningful to you both. We hope you’ll consider taking on a board position next year!
Looking Toward the Future: Leaders Wanted!
-
We will have one to two open seats on our Drama Booster Executive Board next school year. We are looking for a Drama Booster President OR 2 Co-Presidents to share the position. We need to fill these seats this spring so that the outgoing board can assist with the transition of the in-coming board. We would like to fill as many Committee Chairs as we can this spring before next year since it would be very welcoming to have a committee ready to serve our new Drama teacher. If you are interested in volunteering, need more information or if you would like to recommend someone for any open seat, please contact our outgoing Co-Presidents,
Nancy Erickson at n.eliz.erickson@gmail.com or Teresa Ward at t4ward@comcast.net.

(Co-) President: Oversees the various committees, coordinates the summer gathering with students & parents, recruits volunteers, communicates with Drama teacher, disseminates information to parents, runs monthly board meetings, fills in the blanks when short on volunteers. Explanatory notebook is available.
Vital Committee Chairs Needed!
-
Fundraiser: Currently oversees 2 car washes per year, 2 “dine-in” fundraisers at Teddy’s Burgers (easily coordinated with the owners), and two Raffle/Silent Auctions; one held during the Fall Show and one during the Spring Musical. This position is open to any new fundraising ideas, but these are events that have seemed to raise money. Explanatory Notebook is available. Fundraising is KEY to the success of the department, as Booster money is what supports a majority of the activities in which our drama students participate. The annual district budget for Drama does not even cover the costs of one show.
-
Rehearsal Dinner Coordinator: Prepares food, coordinates volunteers, serves food, and collects payment from students for dinners served during late rehearsal nights.
-
CSet Construction: Helps with student construction of sets and tear down for each show, working in conjunction with the Director.
-
Concessions Chair: Acquires candy, pop, water, etc. and coordinates and oversees student volunteers at concession booth before and during intermissions at drama productions; submits proceeds to Booster Treasurer.
5th Avenue Awards
The 5th Avenue Awards will be held Tuesday, June 11th at 7:00pm at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. We will find out in May if any of our WHS Thespians
from the musical Into the Woods have been nominated for any awards. This is always a fun event to attend!
